So Hard to Say Goodbye!

I, like most people, hate saying goodbyes.  Today was no difference.  Today was the day that I had dread for the past 11 days.
Me and my husband normally only get two days/nights together.  J gets in on Fridays (normally late) and leaves around 6 on Sundays.  About 48 hours is all we get at one time.  While it isn't ideal, it is what we have to do right now since I am still in school and he is in the military.  In the beginning, it was always hard to say goodbye to him.  I always cried and would remain in tears for hours after.  As time has pasted, it hasn't gotten any easier to say goodbye, but it has become part of our routine.  He leaves on Sunday and comes back down on Friday.  Week after week, this is how our lives function now days.  I'm not going to say I don't have weekends when I cry and where I get down about it, but over the past year, I have learned to deal with it.
Today, however, was completely different.  J and I had spent the past 11 days together.  11 days.  We haven't had this much time together at one period since we got married.  It was absolutely wonderful!!  I couldn't have asked for a better time!  It was so nice to get to spend time in our apartment together and go to bed at 9:00 and watch tv.  But today, reality hit.  This had to come to an end and today J had to go back to base.  All day, I was in tears.  We decided we would just have a lazy day, and spend most of the time curled up watching basketball and movies.  And then the dreaded time came.  He had to leave.  As much as I don't like it, it had to happen.  So reality has officially set back in.  J has left and I am getting ready to go back to class tomorrow.  I had a hard time today, and to make it even worse, J is going on a training thing and won't be back in until April 1st.  Oh, time....you better pass quickly.

Why do goodbyes always have to be so hard?

TV

This past week was the first one in which my husband I have been together for an extended period of time in our new apartment together.  We get the weekends, but this time we had a whole 11 days!  While we were together, he pointed out that I have a very bad obsession....TV...
I love TV and it gives me something to do at night while I am waiting to talk to him, or by myself on a quiet night.
But I must say, I do have over half the week in which I have nightly TV shows

Sunday:

(If you haven't heard/seen this show, you definitely need to!  It premiered this past Sunday so hubs and I got to watch it together and WOW!!  I cried for the entire hour!  Hubby might have shed a tear or two as well!!  Great!)

Monday:

I have to admit, this is the first season I have watched this show, but I knew Emily's story coming in and had to watch it!!  I am cheering for her to get the final rose :)

Tuesday:

Wednesday:

So, maybe he is right.  It is a lot of TV shows, but several of these I watch online when I have free time.  Besides, everyone has to have plenty of ways to procrastinate , right?! ha
What are some of your favorite TV shows?

Spring Break 2011

Well, as sad as it is...spring break 2011 is almost in the books.

While I didn't spend this one on a beach, or in Vegas, or anything like that, I got to spend it with this guy:

It was so wonderful to have some time together without work or school in the way!  It was also a great time to get lots of stuff ready for the little man who is scheduled to make his arrival in about 10 or so short weeks.  So carzy how quickly time is going by now days!
We have officially registered for E and bought and put together his crib and changing table!  Cannot believe that he is almost here!
The next couple weeks are going to prove to be busy, but so much fun!!  I have a couple baby showers coming up, so I can't wait to see what all little E gets!!
Luckily, it has stopped rainning here, so I think the hubby and I are looking forward to going for some runs in our last couple days together.  Gotta keep off the extra weight (from all the sweets I am consuming these days!)
Have a good weekend :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

February 14th.  I have to say, I am not a HUGE fan of this day.  While I enjoy all the candy, all the other festivities are take it or leave it for me.  And this year was no exception.

Last year was WONDERFUL.  J and I got to spend the entire weekend together :)  What more could I ask for?!

But this year, Valentine's came on a Monday...a workday...
And J had duty this weekend, so he didn't get to come in either.  So needless to say, this Valentine's Day isn't one of my favorites.

But I can't have a LOVE holiday go by, and not do anything for my love.

So, J, I love you more than you will ever know!  I can't wait for all the Valentine Days that we get to spend together in the future!

I wouldn't trade my Valentine for anything!!  And next year, I can't wait to celebrate with BOTH of my boys!

Day 2 and Random Thoughts...

Hey guys...impressed!?  Two days in a row...we've got something going here!

First things first, here is day two of my blog challenge:

Day 2:  A picture of someone you've been closest with the longest:

This is Kait.  Kait and I have a relationship that speaks for itself.  (And she'll hate me for this picture)

And now...the random part:
1. I've been overly productive today.  It is not even 3:00 and I have been to all my classes for today, transferred my water bills and my electric bill, called and caught up with family, done 4 (yes count them...FOUR) loads of laundry, and I have started on an assignment not due until February 24th.  shew...what a day haha
2. I have FINALLY (yes, Momma, finally) picked out the crib and car seat I want for Easton.  If you're like my mom, you're probably sitting there thinking, it took you long enough, didn't it?!
3. In one month I will be on spring break...yay!!  And to make it even better, hubby is taking leave so we can have like 10 wholeeeeeeee dayssssssss together!!!  What more could I ask for?!  We are still deciding whether we want to go to Kentucky for the week or spend a quiet week in our apartment, just the two of us.  The second might be winning right now, but we still have some time to decide....
4. I have officially decided it is time to watch my weight.  I have a strech mark.  (well, a few of them), so, now I have to give up the sweets that I justify eating because "Easton wants them..."  I'm sure he will continue to want them until may though
5. I have picked out a bathing suite for me for the beach in July.  and yes, it is a bikini!  Thus, my goal is to lose the baby weigh in 8 weeks.  Possible?  I don't know, but now it helps that I have some motivation.

Ok...I think I'm done.  Hope you're having a great Tuesday!

Picture/Blog Challenge: Day 1

So to try and get myself blogging more regularly, I decided to follow suit and participate in the 30 day pictures/blog challenge.  So here it is:
Day 1:  A picture of yourself and 15 facts....

1. I have had three first names, but my birth certificate decided to separate my middle name, so technically, I had four first names
2. I am a completely girly-girl.  I LOVE (maybe more, I am slightly obsessed) with the color pink, monogramming, and anything else completely girly!  (You're probably thinking...Poor Easton.hahaha)
3. I love to watch the news.  When I am home for the summer, I wake up at 7:00 most morning to watch the headlines on the Today show.  I also enjoy watching the weather channel when it is hurricane season...(no..i'm not a dork...haha)
4. I love watching game shows....Jeopardy, yes, please
5. I love to go to the beach.  I could spend my entire summer there.
6. I LOVE sports.  I would rather watch a sporting event on any given day/night than do anything else.  (I may or may not yell at the tv every now and then....)
7. I am a homebody.  I would much rather spend a night curled up on the couch than out.  Also, if given the choice (and my husband and I living together full-time) I would be in bed by 8:00pm every night.
8. If I could live in any other country in the world, I would choose to live in Belgium.
9. I am very tender hearted and cry at the drop of a hat.  This has gotten sooooooooo much worse since I have been pregnant.  My husband Lovessssss it (ha!)
10. I love my dog so much!!  I have a matching stuffed animal of her I keep with me when I'm not home
11. I normally only eat two meals a day.  Since I've been pregnant, it has really been a struggle to make sure I eat enough and gain enough weight, but in the last couple weeks, eating has gotten so much easier...(hello, sweets!)
12. I am a grammar fanatic!  When I am mad or irritated at people, I enjoy critiquing their grammar....
13. I love sending and receiving cards.
14. I love sleeping when it is raining outside.  I'm pretty much dead to the world
15. I cannot wait for my baby boy to get here.  14 weeks, Easton!

Sunny Days...

FINALLY...I think we have broken out of our snow spell...maybe (I will probably blog about this, and next week, they will be calling for snow, yet again)
not saying that this is wonderful...but after you have had snow so much already, it's time for a change.  this is our second winter of actually having legit snows.  (but I can't complain.  it is wonderful when you get your classes delayed or canceled.  so if it wants to keep doing that, i'm 10000000% ok with it!
but right now, i would much rather have weather like this and be here in shorts and tank tops:

and i must say...thinking about places like this with the summer weather makes me so excited about Easton coming and getting to take him to the beach.  His arrival isn't for 14 more weeks, and already, i may or may not have him a beach trip planned.  (gotta start them young, right?!)

i also figure, he will look adorable in these sweet little swimming trunks!  (sorry, honey, yes, they're on a little bit of the preppy side, but they're oh so cute!)

yes, you can tell it's thursday.  as the weeks come to an end, i tend of get more interested in looking at stuff for E rather than doing work.  what can i say...i'm soooooooooo excited about my baby boy!

Welcome to my Life

"Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead. The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring."
Oscar Wilde

Welcome to the story of my life.  Like any story, it is not perfect, not always pretty, but I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.  Over the past year my life has changed so much and with everything going on, and trying to balance everything, one of my best friends suggested I started blogging to keep track of it all.  So here it is, my online journal.  Also, with so much going on and so many people to keep updated, it is impossible to call everyone all the time...so family...here is your daily (or as close to daily as I can get) updates of everything going on.

So here goes my first attempt at blogging for me.  I've had blogs for school and am currently running one for one of my Education classes, so I'm hoping that this attempt will be successful!!  Wish me LUCK :)

Where to begin?  Well, let me start by telling you a little bit about me..
My name is Allison.  A summation of me:  a wife, a soon-to-be mother, a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a cousin, a student, a friend a worker, a Christian, and so many others....but these are my main focuses now.  Some days I am better at these than other, but in all honesty, who doesn't have those types of days.
Now on to the details about all of my roles:

Let's start with the WIFE part.  Meet my hubby:
(and to anyone who knows him, you know that he would killllllllll me if he know I put a picture of him in a Wake shirt on here :)...)

This is my best friend, my soulmate, my everything.  He gets me through so much and has stood by my side through everything.  He is in the Navy and has two and a half years left.  During the week we live apart, and he comes home on the weekends!  Right now, life is about to get crazy for us!  We are moving into our own place this weekend and CANNOT wait!  (Well, he might can wait...I'm sure he's already tired of me trying to get everything to match and making him look at 10,000,000 sites a day for this and that!)  Hubby is pretty much my complete opposite!  While I am your typical "girly-girl," he is your typical hunter, country boy.  We do share some similar interests including:  1. our love for each other, 2. our love for sports, 3. love for our families, and several others.

In September, J and I found out we were having a BABY!!!  Ready or not!  We had typical up and down reactions, worried about everything and how everything was going to come together and work, but after getting over the inital shock, we are beyonddddddd THRILLED!!!!!!  In December, we found out more exciting news...(and of course news that made J jump for joy...) we found out baby was a little, precious baby BOY!!!  Yes, a little mini-J!  Daddy was thrilled and so was Mommy!  In Daddy's words, since baby would be with me full time during the week, a little girl would end up too girly for his liking.  (But he secretly knows our boy will have his preppy side, too!  Ha, sorry babe)
EASTON ALLEN SALLEE is scheduled to make his grand debut on May 15th.  Grandma's birthday!  We are all so excited, and yet so pushed now as the weeks are flying by and we are almost in the third trimester!  Hopefully I will stay sain enough to make sure he has everything he needs....at least other people are keeping it together for me.

The student part of my life...
If being a wife and a Mommy weren't going to be busy enough, I am also a full time student here:

Seriously, in my very biased opinion, this has to be the most beautiful campus. everrrrrrrrrrr.  I mean, seriously, this is only one snapshot of the beauty we have here.  while some might deem us "work forset," it doesn't take away the excitement and joy of attending this wonderful university.  And as you can see in the picture, we don't work alllllllll the time (although, some days it sure does feel like it!) we also have some crazy traditions, some of which include "Rolling the Quad" after big wins.
I am an elementary education major here, and i LOVEEEEEE it!!  Not only are the people wonderful, but the classes are great, too!  I would actually look forward to going to classes right now, if 1. they weren't at 8:30, four days a week, and 2. it wasn't such a long cold walk in the mornings at 8:30....but eh, it's almost spring, right?!

Something that keeps me going through the toughest times are my WONDERFUL friends and family!
meet...the parents:

two of the most wonderful people in the entire world!!  I am lucky in the fact that after this weekend, I will go back to living in my hometown, and a mere, 3-4 miles away from their house!  Not that will use it all the time, but being on my own with a newborn might get a little, ummm...crazy at times, and luckily, I know they will be there the second I need it!  I love these two so much and I am so thankful for everything they have everrrrrr done for me!!  (Side notes about them:  Mom also works at the forest, so I see her everyday, and Daddy made me a UVA fan...yes, two more wonderful things to add about them!)

This is my brudder:

I can't find a more recent picture of him...so this will have to do.  besides, now he is about six inches taller than me, so I like this picture even more that it shows for one more time that I am still taller...

but, just so he doesn't kill me, here are some more recent pictures of my "little" brother.  Yes, I am six years older, and he loves to rub in the fact that he is the second tallest (probably soon to be tallest member of the family).  He is the complete athlete and is very good!  I must say, he makes his big sister proud!  I've already told him that he and Grandpa are going to have to teach Easton how to play basketball, and they can coach him if they want to as well ;)

Some more family:

needless to say, it would be a complete understand for me to say that I've been blessed by family!  They have blessed my life in ways that I CANNOT describe!

and family is not the only people who have enriched my life.  I have been blessed with some wonderful friends as well!!

yes, these are just a few of the people who make my life wonderful and bless it to the fullest!  I'm sure more introductions will be made throughout various posts, but here is a good start!  welcome to the story of my crazy, sweet, life!  Enjoy the RIDE :)
